How this is computed — and what it is not
- Prices are real: hourly day-ahead auction results for your zone (Bundesnetzagentur | SMARD.de via Energy-Charts, CC BY 4.0), from January 2025 to yesterday.
- Solar: your kWp × an hourly production estimate from actual weather-model radiation, valued at the actual negative price in every hour below €0 — i.e., what curtailment would have kept. Lost market-premium effects are excluded, so for supported plants the true number is higher.
- Battery: one cycle per day, cheapest-2-hours in, priciest-2-hours out, 88% round-trip efficiency.
- Load shifting: your shiftable MWh moved from the day's 4 priciest to its 4 cheapest hours.
- This is a perfect-foresight upper bound. Nobody catches every hour. Our backtested engine currently calls negative hours with 85–91% precision at its alert threshold (by zone) — judged daily on the public scoreboard. The gap between zero and perfect is what a forecast is worth.
